The pro-Ukrainian domestic propaganda machine churned out a strikingly vicious piece this weekend at 24.hu. The known left-wing media oligarch, Zoltán Varga, who controls the portal 24.hu, swallowed the Washington Post’s trash hook, line, and sinker, offering zero criticism.
In this regurgitated propaganda, citing vague “European” sources, it claims a Russian intelligence unit allegedly offered the Hungarian government a hit on Viktor Orbán — a calculated strike to secure Fidesz’s election victory.
The Narrative Has Been Staged for Months
On the surface, the article reads like poorly written science fiction, lacking any specifics. This proves that 24.hu was forced to admit: there is zero evidence for this claim, and the entire scenario is a complete fabrication.
What is chilling, however, is that Prime Minister Péter Márki-Zay has been pushing this exact story all year, claiming Fidesz allegedly uses assassination plots to cling to power. He first dropped this at his January press conference, claiming opponents would use dirty tricks to avoid losing. The Washington Post article is just the latest chapter in this pre-written script.
